Gymnastics, a Life-Long Membership to the Team
Have you been thinking about enrolling your child in gymnastics? At Virginia Elite Gymnastics Academy (VEGA) in Williamsburg and New Kent, we are passionate about serving the youth throughout our community through fitness. We believe that gymnastics is a sport that can impact your child’s life well beyond their youth, from teaching perseverance to working with their teammates to achieve a common goal in group competitions. Perseverance
When your child joins a gymnastics class at VEGA, one of the things they will learn over time is the importance of perseverance. This goes above and beyond improving coordination, flexibility, speed, balance, and strength. Perseverance is a character trait that can help your child succeed in many other areas of their life, not just in the gym. Through perseverance, your child will be able to set and achieve goals and overcome obstacles both in the gym as well as the classroom and at home.
Learn to Support Others
While gymnastics is, at times, an individual sport, our athletes also take part in group competitions. It’s through these group competitions our gymnasts learn to support and encourage one another during every event, from the uneven bars to the balance beam, vault, and more. With teammates cheering you on and teammates that become lifelong friends, your child will learn to value the importance of relationships in and out of the gym.
Perform Under Pressure
As with any sport, our gymnasts learn to perform under pressure. This is something they may learn in any sport, whether it’s shooting a game-winning basket at the buzzer, hitting a walk-off home run, or being the first to cross the finish line. Gymnasts are judged with points, and the cumulative score determines their place in any competition. With this kind of pressure, our athletes learn to perform at the best of their ability no matter what event they are participating in.
Gracefully Receive Feedback
Another harder but equally important lesson for your child to learn through gymnastics is how to gracefully (and gratefully) receive feedback, both positive and negative. Children who grow up learning the benefit of constructive criticism will learn how to make necessary adjustments and better themselves in every area of their life.
At Virginia Elite Gymnastics Academy, we are committed to helping your child evolve not only in the gym and on the mat but in every area of their lives. Are you ready to set your child on a lifelong path of growth, perseverance, and determination? Register for classes by giving us a call or visiting VEGA online today!
